Ever smoke Marijuana? "Yes, foolishly.”

The Ted Cruz's track record reveals a history of inconsistencies, reversals and political-double-speak that result in his abysmal Medical Marijuana score.  In other words, Cruz is no friend of Medical Marijuana.

On record, we found no evidence that Cruz knows anything of substance, whatsoever, about the life sciences, let alone Medical Marijuana.  Cruz's substantial funding is from big business and traditional foes of natural medicine which did not help his rating as a good MMJ buddy.

MMJ IQ SCORE

  • Integrity  -5*
  • Acumen *
  • Marijuana IQ  zero
  • Supports legalization of recreational marijuana use.
  • Supports legalization of Medical Cannabis **
  • Supports Constitution, each State should decide on Medical Marijuana **
  • Considers the Recreational use of Marijuana to be a minor offence *
  • Has tried Marijuana zero
  • Against  the War on Drugs, Marijuana zero

Huh, what'd Cruz say?

“Now, (Federal Control of Marijuana) that may or may not be a good policy, but I would suggest that should concern anyone, it should even concern libertarians who support that policy outcome, because the idea that the president simply says criminal laws that are on the books, we’re going to ignore them. That is a very dangerous precedent.”

Cruz has consistently opposed the use of recreational marijuana, but recently supports the right of each state to decide on legalization. However, Cruz the politician has an ever shifting position on the issue of Marijuana legalization, among so many other topics.  At one point Cruz claimed to support Colorado’s experiment with legalization. Then again, Cruz is on record for criticizing President Obama for allowing Colorado and Washington to legalize Marijuana.

In another example of shifty behavior, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Grassley's criminal justice bill by a 3-to-1 margin However, Cruz joined four other Republicans in voting NO.  The switch was especially disturbing because Cruz previously supported a bill that was more ambitious and liberal than the one he rejected.  Cruz's provided no explanation for supporting a criminal justice system that he suggested previously was mindlessly punitive

Political Animal Ted Cruz Quotes on Marijuana

“These are laws that say if you do X, Y, and Z’,  you will go to prison. The president announced, ‘No, you won’t."

"When it comes to a question of legalizing marijuana, I don’t support legalizing marijuana."

"If it were on the ballot in the state of Texas, I would vote no. But I also believe that’s a legitimate question for the states to make a determination.  you know, using Brandeis’ terms of laboratories of democracy, is we can now watch and see what happens in Colorado and Washington State."

“If the citizens of Colorado decide they want to go down that road, that’s their prerogative, I personally don’t agree with it, but that’s their right.”

“The Obama administration’s approach to drug policy is to simply announce that across the country, it is going to stop enforcing certain drug laws, Now that may or may not be a good policy."
